FAQs
Insurance
-
At Be You Psychotherapy, we are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not accept insurance directly. However, many of our clients are able to receive reimbursement for therapy services through their out-of-network mental health benefits.
We understand that navigating insurance can be confusing, so we’re here to help. If your plan includes out-of-network coverage, we can provide you with a superbill—a detailed receipt of services—that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Read our blog post on The Basics of Out of Network Mental Health Benefits to learn more on what out of network benefits are and how to determine what your benefits are through your health insurance company.
-
At Be You Psychotherapy, we choose to operate as an out-of-network provider because it allows us to offer the highest level of personalized, client-centered care—without the restrictions that often come with insurance companies.
When therapists are in-network, they are required to follow insurance guidelines around session length, treatment type, and diagnosis requirements. These limitations can interfere with the therapeutic process and may not always align with what’s best for you.
By working out of network, we’re able to:
Focus entirely on your unique goals and needs—not insurance checkboxes
Maintain your privacy and confidentiality, without sharing detailed clinical notes with third parties
Offer flexibility in the length, frequency, and style of sessions
Avoid requiring a formal mental health diagnosis unless you request one
While it may involve an upfront investment, many clients find that out-of-network therapy provides greater freedom, more individualized care, and a stronger therapeutic relationship.
-
Yes, we do. At Be You Psychotherapy, we’re committed to making the out-of-network process as simple and stress-free as possible. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement of your therapy sessions. After each session we will provide an invoice with all of the codes you may need to make getting reimbursed simple, quick and easy.
-
Reimbursify is a trusted third-party service that Be You Psychotherapy partners with to simplify your insurance reimbursement process. Since we are an out-of-network practice, Reimbursify acts as a liaison between you and your health insurance company, helping you get reimbursed for your therapy sessions more easily.
Here’s how it works:
After each session, you will easily be able to upload your invoice you received from your clinician to the Reimbursify platform
Reimbursify submits claims on your behalf directly to your insurance provider.
They handle the often-complex paperwork and follow-ups required for out-of-network reimbursement
This service helps maximize your chances of receiving reimbursement quickly and accurately.
You maintain full control and transparency over your claims through Reimbursify’s user-friendly platform.
By working with Reimbursify, we aim to reduce the administrative burden on you and make accessing your insurance benefits as hassle-free as possible.
Payment
-
Yes! Be You Psychotherapy offers a range of pricing in addition to offering sliding scale options as well as affordable counseling sessions through our Psychotherapist in Training Program.
-
Yes, we do! At Be You Psychotherapy, you can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for eligible therapy services.
Because psychotherapy is considered a qualified medical expense under most HSA and FSA plans, using these accounts can be a convenient and tax-advantaged way to invest in your mental health. You can typically use your HSA/FSA debit card just like you would any other card, or we can provide a receipt for reimbursement if needed.
-
We believe that access to quality care is important. While we are a boutique out of network practice that provides a high level of concierge support, we also want to ensure therapy at Be You remains accessible to as many people as possible. Each of our clinicians holds a limited number of sliding scale spots, wherein therapists are able to provide the same level of care at a reduced fee. We are also very proud of our highly competitive internship program, which provides the opportunity for our advanced clinicians-in-training to provide excellent care at a significantly reduced rate, making it possible to receive meaningful support at different price points.
Therapy
-
There’s no one way to “qualify” for therapy. Many people reach out because something in their life feels off—they’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck, or simply not like themselves. Others come to therapy out of curiosity, wanting to better understand their inner world or navigate a transition with more clarity.
You might consider therapy if:
You’re feeling anxious, down, or emotionally off balance
You’re stuck in patterns that feel hard to change
Relationships—personal or professional—are feeling strained
You’re facing a major change, loss, or decision
You want space to reflect, recalibrate, or grow
Therapy doesn’t always require a crisis. It’s a space to think out loud, feel without judgment, and explore what matters most to you—with someone trained to listen closely and help you make sense of it.
-
The length of therapy varies widely depending on your goals, needs, and the approach you and your therapist take. Some people find meaningful progress in just a few sessions, while others choose to engage in therapy over many months or even several years.
Typically, therapy can be:
Short-term: Focused on a specific issue or transition, lasting anywhere from 6 to 12 sessions.
Medium-term: For exploring deeper patterns or challenges, often lasting several months.
Long-term: For ongoing personal growth or working through complex issue(s)
At Be You, as an out-of-network provider, our care is fully individualized. This means we don’t impose rigid time frames, pressure, or constraints on your therapy journey. Instead, we prioritize your unique needs and pace and revisit goals regularly to ensure the process remains meaningful and effective for you.

Finding the right therapist is a personal process, and feeling comfortable and understood is essential to making therapy effective. Each provider brings a unique style, approach, and personality, so it’s important to connect with someone who feels like a good match for you.
At Be You, we offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help you get a sense of the provider’s style and approach before committing to a full session. This brief conversation gives you the opportunity to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and see if the fit feels right—no pressure, no obligation. It’s a valuable first step in finding the right therapeutic relationship. Schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation through this link.
-
Not exactly. While we all value building a strong, trusting relationship, each therapist brings their own professional expertise, style, and specialties to their work. This means you can find someone who not only fits what you’re looking for but also offers skilled, evidence-based care tailored to your needs.
Whether it’s managing anxiety, working through life changes, or focusing on personal growth, our team combines compassion with extensive training and experience to support you in the way that feels right.
-
Working with a psychotherapist-in-training offers several benefits beyond affordability. These clinicians are eager, dedicated, and bring fresh perspectives grounded in the latest research and evidence-based practices. They receive close supervision and ongoing training, ensuring you get thoughtful, up-to-date care.
Many clients find that their enthusiasm and commitment make sessions feel dynamic and collaborative, while still maintaining professional support and expertise.
-
Therapists are licensed mental health professionals trained to support you through emotional and psychological challenges. They help address issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, and longstanding patterns by exploring emotions, past experiences, and coping strategies.
Life coaches focus primarily on setting goals, enhancing motivation, and supporting personal or professional growth. Their work is typically future-oriented and action-driven, concentrating on where you want to go rather than the emotional obstacles that might be in the way.
Both roles offer valuable support, but if you’re dealing with mental health concerns or seeking deeper emotional healing, therapy is usually the best fit.
-
Group therapy is a powerful form of psychotherapy where a small group of individuals come together, guided by one or more therapists, to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe, supportive space. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with others who may be facing similar challenges, offering a sense of belonging and understanding that can be deeply healing.
Within this shared environment, participants can gain new insights, practice meaningful communication, and receive gentle feedback that fosters growth. Whether addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship struggles, group therapy encourages connection and healing through collective support. If you are interested in group therapy, Be You Psychotherapy runs several groups throughout the year.
-
Absolutely. Many clients find that combining individual and group therapy offers a well-rounded approach to healing. Individual therapy provides a confidential space to explore your personal experiences and challenges in depth. Group therapy adds the valuable dimension of connection, allowing you to share, learn, and grow alongside others facing similar struggles. Sometimes, individual therapy may be a prerequisite for joining a group.
Together, these therapies complement each other—what you work on one-on-one can be supported and enriched by the group experience and vice versa. If you’re considering both, we encourage you to discuss this with your therapist to ensure it aligns with your goals and needs.
-
Absolutely. Many clients find that combining individual and couples therapy is the most effective way to ensure both individual and joint growth and development. It is important, however, that the individual therapists are different than the couples therapist so that there are clear boundaries in the work. This way, each person has dedicated space to process things individually, while also coming together as a couple.
